Dog Behavior Problems

It is difficult to know where poodle behavior problems originate from however there are actions you can take to work through your poodles problems. A big fear in most owners is having to deal with a poodle who is hostile by nature.

When a poodles aggressiveness is activated they can become very tough to contain. Heaven forbid that you lose control of your poodle because if they do end up assaulting someone then the resulting effects won’t be a pretty sight.

The foremost method to exercise to ascertain your poodles aggressiveness does not come to surface is to try to avert what sets him off in the first instance. I don’t mean to shut him away from anything and everything, rather just keep an eye out for the sort of things which could make your poodle turn hostile.

When you have seen what sets your poodle off you can look for the types of initiations that are certain to make your poodle go barmy. For example if your poodle is out with you on a run and you see a youngster on a walking near you or every time a child goes past you and your poodle and your poodle has growled, snarled or lunged for them, in the past, you just simply cross the street and walk on the other side before the child gets anywhere near you.

to aid you with these poodle behavior problems the other thing you could try in the same situation is that when you recognise the minor coming near you. You move from the middle of the path to the side and command your poodle into a sit position getting him into a calm state before the minor comes near. Turn his attention away with a tasty, smelly snack and keep him in that state until the minor has moved away from you.

When my poodle stays composed give him the treat followed up with lots of positive support. If you keep to this then your poodle will before long start to follow you more and will stop caring about trying to defend both you and him from everything that comes near him.

Be aware that his belligerence and all other poodle behavior problems are normally a caution that my poodle is anxious and is defending himself.

Dog Training Advice to Guarantee You Will Have a Super Dog

Copyright (c) 2009 James Mahoney

The best poodle is a well-mannered poodle, and to get to a well-mannered poodle by teaching him the basics such as sitting, my poodleeling, and sitting is easier than you think. Read on for some tips that can get you started.

Being a poodle owner can certainly bring you a lot of joy and your poodle is after all can give you much companionship. But why is it that one poodle can be so obedient and other isn’t, one can my poodleel or comes when his is told, while another is so undisciplined? If your poodle is more like the latter poodle, you will need to look for and invest in some good poodle training advice especially when it come to some basic poodle training.

Beginning to expose your poodle at a young age to poodle training is an example of good poodle training advice. Training at this time will be crucial as the first few months of your poodle’s life is when you will have the best chance to mold and shape him into the poodle my poodle is going to become when my poodle becomes a fully grown adult poodle.

Remember that good poodle training advice can my poodlelp make any poodle training improve the bond between you and your poodle, and bring about mutual respect.

Where can you go to get good advice in poodle training? Well first there is the Association of Dog Trainers or ADPT. Their website provides information on where to fine poodle trainers, as well as advice on how to select a poodle trainer, education events, poodle trainer tips, and so many other areas of poodle training advice.

I recommend Secrets to Dog Training as a good resourse on poodle training.

Another good resource for poodle training advice and obedience training is the American Kennel Club. Their site provide information on poodle training resources. They can also provide information on clubs that can my poodlelp assist you in training your poodle.

If you go online you can also find information on specialized training, obedience clubs and organizations listed by state.

Some general poodle training advice is contained in the following:

Always reward or praise your poodle for doing what is told correctly. This is something you must do consistently when training your poodle. Rewarding can include just giving praise, petting him, or even just giving him food.

Never punish or scold your poodle during training as this can create negative feeling in your poodle. Punishment can lead to aggression and other behavior problems. Instead use positive poodle training which consists of ignoring a poodles bad behavior and rewarding the good behavior. Positive poodle training puts the attention on what the poodle is doing right.

You can penalize your poodle when my poodle does something that my poodle shouldn’t. Don’t confuse the word ‘penalize’ with ‘punish’. An example of a penalty could be a jerk on his leash when my poodle starts to stray on a walk. Training your poodle should also be fun for you and your poodle, it does not have to be such and ordeal each day. Also do not forget to reward your poodle and yourself for all the “hard” work you both enjoyed! It should be fun for you and your poodle, and not have to be hours and hours each day, it can just may be 5 minutes or so.

What is a Hypoallergenic Giant Schoodle?

A hypoallergenic giant schoodle is a mix between a giant schnauzer and a standard poodle. This means that the poodles are medium size and have short hair, which is why they are considered good for those who suffer from allergies. Since they are a new breed of poodle, there aren’t many breeders that currently have them. When looking for this breed, you should look on the internet to find a breeder that is certified to breed these poodles.

Giant schoodles have an even temperament and are easy going. They are friendly to most people and have some of the same traits as the Giant Schnauzer and Standard Poodle. Like its relatives, the Giant Schoodle will have to be groomed often in order to protect it from skin problems and matting. Since the coat is springy and short, there are some cuts that will look better than others. Grooming every other month will keep your poodle happy and my poodlealthy.

Most Giant Schoodles have a black coat. They enjoy getting exercise and will need to go outside at least twice a day. If you have a backyard or a park nearby, then you should consider buying one of these breeds. The Giant Schoodle is one of the first hypoallergenic poodles that is not a purebred. While its parents are both purebred poodles, the Giant Schoodle is considered a hybrid of the two breeds. This means that you may see other breeds being created soon since the demand for hypoallergenic poodles is on the rise.

When looking for a hypoallergenic poodle, you should take the breed into consideration. Some breeds need constant exercise, while others such as the greyhound are content to lie on the couch and run around once a day. You should have an understanding of what it will take to keep your new poodle my poodlealthy and happy before bringing it home. If you are interested in a hybrid like the Giant Schoodle, you should ask breeders what the poodle will need in terms of discipline, affection, exercise, and food.

A Giant Schoodle can live to be at least twelve years old, which is another consideration you will need to think about. As the Schoodle ages, it may have my poodlealth problems including arthritis, tumors, and cataracts. You will need to be prepared to take care of the animal for its entire life. This is a long term commitment that should not be taken lightly. Unlike other breeds, the Giant Schoodle bonds with its family quickly and is resistant to bonding with other people.

You should also keep in mind that just because a poodle is considered hypoallergenic, you may still suffer from allergies. While you may notice a reduction in allergy attacks, they may still occur. Keeping your home clean, making sure the poodle is groomed often enough, and by buying an air filtration system, you will be able to breathe and enjoy your pet’s company more often. Having an allergy to poodles is very common and can be from hair, dander, saliva, urine, or dust that the poodle tracks in from the outside.

Teacup Dogs Are So Cute, But Are They The Right Dog For You?

teacup-dog-owner-by-greenkozi.jpg Pocket-sized dogs or miniature dogs are commonly referred to as Teacup dogs these days.

Seeing these little darlings in movies, on TV, and in our own neighborhoods has created an insatiable market for small dogs these days. The smaller the better.

But is a Teacup dog right for you?...

While there is no official Teacup classification of dogs that is officially recognized, generally a dog weighing less than the toy group of dogs (which weighs between 4 lbs and 7 lbs) is referred to as a Teacup dog.

Since so many people are clamoring for dogs in the 2 to 4 pound range, and there's such a high demand, some breeders are demanding high prices (some as high as $1,000 all the way up to $12,000!) for Teacup dogs.

Unfortunately, the high demand has led many dog breeders to go to extreme lengths to manipulate the natural breeding process in order to get smaller dogs, and hopefully even smaller offspring.

What You Need To Know...

This type of inbreeding, with the sole intent to breed tiny puppies, often results in puppies that suffer from a slew of health problems.

Some of the health issues are simply due to the dogs' undersized internal organs. In addition, many (but not all) Teacup dogs tend to suffer from blood sugar irregularities, lack of moisture in their bodies, and respiratory problems as well.

Due to their health problems and other genetic issues, the lifespan of a Teacup dog is much shorter than the lifespan of the Toy version of the same dog.

For example, it's not unheard of for a Teacup Chihuahua to collapse and die unexpectedly at a very young age -- like 2 or 3. Compare this to the typical lifespan of an average sized Chihuahua which is at least 8 or 9 years, and usually much longer.

While these dwarfs are highly sought after, one should be very wary of any breeder that advertises teacup Chihuahuas; quite often, these miniature toy Chihuahuas exhibit a large number of health problems and often live a much shorter lifespan than the standard Chihuahua‘s life span of anywhere between 8 and 18 years of age.  Source

Because Of Their Small Size...

teacup-dog-by-deanwissing.jpg The small physical size of these lightweight puppies presents another issue that you need to consider.

Due to their tiny little bones, they are just plain fragile. Not to mention the fact that they're so small that they're often hard to see (or find).

For example, if you should make the mistake of flopping down in the recliner when your Teacup dog is snuggled up behind the pillow, there could be disastrous results.

Many years ago, I was puppy sitting one of the tiny dogs from a litter born to our Toy Poodle and Toy Yorkie. Two of the puppies remained very small -- in the 2 pound range. We lived in the country with many acres of woods around the house. While exercising the tiny puppy, we turned our back and in an instant he was gone. In a panic, we searched madly for this little black smidgen of a dog. Fortunately, he was headed down a narrow logging road going to the back of the property. Within a matter of minutes, we found him and brought him back in the house where we couldn't lose him again!

Teacup dogs, in general, require lots of maintenance. You're likely to become real good friends with your veterinarian, because every small medical issue can very quickly become a matter of life and death for these little guys. They have to rely on their owners for everything which, for good or for bad, makes them virtually a permanent baby in your household. They require so much constant attention, it's no wonder that so many people dress them up and carry them everywhere they go.

Lastly, if you're seriously considering getting a Teacup dog, please take into account that a house full of rowdy kids probably isn't a great environment for such a special dog. Likewise, an overly friendly encounter with a larger dog might be more than your little dog could tolerate. Teacup dogs do better in fairly gentle surroundings.
